WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) â A Panacea man is injured following a minor single-engine plane crash at the airport in Panacea.
According to The Florida Highway Patrol, who was assisting the Wakulla County Sheriff s Office on the call, the aircraft lost power and landed short of the grass runway.
Emergency personnel were able to remove the pilot who was the sole occupant of the plane from the wreckage. The pilot was then transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries
Both agencies are waiting for the FAA, who will be conducting further investigation.
One man was injured after a plane crash at the Wakulla County Airport in Panacea Sunday evening.
The Wakulla County Sheriff s Office and EMS responded to the crash, posting about it on Facebook around 6 p.m. Sunday. The department initially described the crash of the small unidentified aircraft as one with injuries but provided no specifics.
In an update released Monday afternoon, the department said: Emergency personnel were able to remove the pilot who was the sole occupant of the plane from the wreckage. The pilot was then transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
WCSO said the FAA responded and would be conducting the investigation moving forward.

WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) â A crash on Coastal Highway near Hamaknockers BBQ is currently blocking the road, according to deputies.
Thursday, the Wakulla County Sheriff s Office posted a social media message asking drivers to find an alternative road due to a car crash that has made Coastal Highway impassable.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol s live traffic map, troopers were dispatched to a location near the intersection of Coastal Highway (U.S. Highway 98/319) and Carter Road at 11:41 a.m. and arrived on the scene two minutes later.

LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) â The FBI is looking into three separate cases involving threats mailed to schools in the Big Bend area and South Georgia.
The first time it happened was on January 4 in Thomasville. Thomasville Police say someone sent two letters with a chemical-type threat to the staff. On February 17, Wakulla High School received a similar letter.
