Liberal Democrat Laurence Brass has been selected by residents as the new Hertfordshire county councillor for north Bushey following the 2021 local elections. Mr Brass election is a notable because the seat had been held by Conservative representative Jane West, who was vying to extend her term in the area. Mr Brass has lived in Bushey since 1972, and served as a Hertsmere borough councillor in the 70s before he was forced to give up his political career when he became a judge.

Watford FC apply to make London Colney training ground dome permanent

Watford FC training ground between London Colney and Shenley Watford Football Club has submitted a planning application to make an indoor dome at its training ground permanent. The club have temporary planning permission for the dome at its London Colney site and are now seeking to make it permanent. The club received permission from Hertsmere Borough Council back in 2018 for the inflatable dome, on the condition it could only be up between October and April. In 2019, the Hornets applied to have the dome up all-year round, but the council refused, citing the harm the dome has on the open character of the greenbelt land .
