The chief nurse at the West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust has praised Watford FC for their contributions to the vaccinations of around 11,000 NHS staff. Over 22,000 vaccination jabs were distributed to local health and social care staff in West Hertfordshire at Watford FC’s Vicarage Road. But following the massive vaccination rollout, the space at the Hornet’s ground that was utilised as a ‘Team West Hertfordshire Sanctuary’ shut last Friday (April 23). The sanctuary was being used to help NHS staff relax between the winter Covid wave, and as a vaccination centre for NHS staff. Watford FC first helped out the trust near the start of the pandemic in April last year, with rooms set aside for bedrooms, training areas for young nurses and counselling rooms amid stress from the first wave of the virus.

Troost Ekong, Isaac Success help Watford to Premier League promotion

Super Eagles duo of William Troost Ekong and Isaac Success helped Watford gain promotion to the Premier League- the top tier of English football after a 1-0 win over Millwall on Saturday.
The promotion means Watford makes an instant return to top-flight football following their relegation last season.
Ekong who joined from Serie A side, Udinese played a pivotal role in the team’s run to sealing Premier League status, playing 32 matches and scoring in a 3-2 win over Coventry City.
Ekong speaking ahead of the match said he and his teammates had before the start of the season set their sight on trying to go all the way and give everything to the last game.
The Hornets have gathered 88 points from 44 matches so far - five points behind leaders Norwich City with two matches remaining and 10 points behind third-placed Brentford.
Sarr is currently Watford s leading top scorer with 13 goals and four assists after 39 Championship matches.
Nigeria defender Troost-Ekong also played a key role in the Hornets’ successful campaign in the second-tier division with his defensive contributions in 32 appearances.
Elsewhere in Middlesbrough, DR Congo s Yannick Bolasie continued his fine goalscoring run in Neil Warnock s team in Saturday s 3-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday.
The Everton loanee took his tally to three goals for Boro with his opening strike at the Riverside Stadium and he later assisted Duncan Watmore to seal their victory in the 81st minute.
