House party at Lightsview, South Australia

Police again broke up a party at Lightsview last night. This was the third occasion that police have been called to this address for allegations of blatantly breaching the lockdown directions since they were put into place at 6pm on Tuesday 20 July. Police received a report of loud music coming from the Waterford Circuit, Lightsview property about 11.30pm on Sunday 26 July. It was also reported that up to 12 people were at the house, in contravention of COVID-19 directions. Police had previously attended two similar disturbances (on 21 and 24 July) at the property during the lockdown, resulting in arrests and expiation notices.

Notorious clerical abuser Oliver O Grady back on the streets after release from prison

FORMER priest and infamous paedophile Oliver O’Grady has been released from prison this week after serving his latest sentence for a sex-offence. Now 75-years-old, O’Grady had been jailed for 22 months last October for possessing ‘child pornography’, his ninth conviction. He had served time in California for the abuse of two boys where he served as a Catholic priest before being deported back to Ireland in the 1990s. His sexual crimes were the subject of an Academy Award-nominated documentary in 2006 called Deliver Us From Evil. O’Grady had been extradited from Portugal in 2019 to face the charge of possessing a video of an underage girl being sexually abused.

West Waterford man receives four-and-a half year sentence for two vicious assaults on his partner

Eoghan Dalton reports from Waterford Circuit Court A man in west Waterford has received a four-and-a-half-year sentence for “viciously assaulting” his partner twice at their home. Waterford Circuit Court heard Tuesday that for the first offence, Patryk Hejwosz, 26, had “slit” his partner’s side with a large kitchen knife, while the second attack had lasted an hour. She had been punched repeatedly in her face, injuring her right eye, lip and neck. However, in her victim impact statement, she told the court that she regretted that the matter made its way to court and said she has been left “worse off” financially as a result.
