EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - The northbound and southbound lanes on St. Joseph Avenue were temporarily blocked due to a down power line on Thursday night.
According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, the fallen power line was located slightly south of Mill Road.
Both lanes have since reopened.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff s office announced that this weekend they ll be conducting a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday March 13th. The reason for the checkpoint they say is due to St. Patrick s Day and the NCAA tournament, both they explain are heavy drinking events.

To help curb drunk driving they ve announced they ll be conducting a DUI/sobriety checkpoint. They won t release the location of that checkpoint, but they said it will be placed based on traffic analysis data.

The Evansville-Vanderburgh County Traffic Safety Partnership will conduct a sobriety checkpoint this Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 10:00 PM until 2:00 AM on March 14, 2021. Law enforcement officers from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office and Evansville Police Department will join together to conduct this checkpoint as a part of a statewide enforcement campaign designed to detect and deter impaired driving during two of the heaviest drink

VANDERBURGH CO., Ind. (WFIE) - The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office says both lanes of State Road 57 were closed at Kansas Road due to a gas line break.
They say one lane is back open, but drivers are still being asked to avoid the area.
There is construction near that location.

VANDERBURGH, Ind. (WFIE) - Major Jason Ashworth announced his candidacy for Sheriff of Vanderburgh County in the upcoming 2022 election.
Major Ashworth has 28 years of law enforcement experience. He says has worked with every law enforcement agency in the area throughout his career at the Vanderburgh County Sheriffâs Office, including at the local, state, and federal levels.
He graduated from the University of Southern Indiana. Heâs been married to his wife, Kendyl, for 27 years, and has two children.
