Meriden Parks and Recreation Director Chris Bourdon said the Board of Education opened up Thomas Hooker, Nathan Hale and Hanover schools to allow children in the city’s summer playground program some respite from the heat. All the buildings are air conditioned and will allow the groups to maintain their 50-child cohorts without being outside.
