Summer camps are moving children indoors or shifting to aquatic activities outdoors to cope with the heat wave.
Meriden Parks and Recreation Director Chris Bourdon said the Board of Education opened up Thomas Hooker, Nathan Hale and Hanover schools to allow children in the cityâs summer playground program some respite from the heat. All the buildings are air conditioned and will allow the groups to maintain their 50-child cohorts without being outside.
