In-Person NMEA Conference Announced

The National Marine Electronics Association and the Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Services announced joint plans for an in-person convention and expo Sept. 20-24 at Florida’s Orlando Doubletree Hotel.
The program includes technical and business seminars, installer training, product awards and a new-products expo.
“Safety of our attendees will … be top priority, and we will be following the safety model that Informa had used during their very successful production of the Palm Beach boat show last month,” Mark Reedenauer, NMEA president and executive director,
RTCM and NMEA will hold meetings for their respective members, as well as crossover sessions. “Having RTCM at the conference brings together the commercial and government sectors of our industry,” Reedenauer said.

International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has recognised India s NavIC as a component of the World-Wide Radio Navigation System (WWRNS), Indian Space Research Organisation said on Tuesday. This recognition was awarded in the 102nd meeting of Maritime Safety Committee of IMO (MSC-102) held in November 2020, the space agency said. It said, NavIC has been represented at IMO by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways with technical support from ISRO. In April 2020, NavIC L5 has been incorporated in the Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Services (RTCM) standard 10403.3 for differential Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) applications, ISRO said.
