ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Wednesday notified fuel cost adjustments (FCAs) for K-Electric for 11 months July 2019 to May 2020 involving a net relief of Rs2.355bn to consumers.
The regulator had completed the public hearing on KE’s FCAs on Feb 23. The combination of monthly FCAs for 11 months came as a blessing in disguise to consumers as increases in tariff costs in certain months were compensated in other months.

KARACHI: Engro Fertilizers Limited has announced a net profit of Rs18.133 billion for the year ended December 31, 2020, which is 7.78 percent higher than the profit of Rs16.87 billion recorded in the previous year ended December 31, 2019.
The earnings per share (EPS) for 2020 clocked in at Rs13.58 compared with the EPS of Rs12.64 in 2019. The company also declared a final cash dividend of Rs4.0/share, which is in addition to the interim dividend of Rs9.0/share already paid to the shareholders.
The earnings came in line with the market expectations. “Growth in earnings is attributed to lower feed and fuel gas cost amidst Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC) reduction. One time impact of GIDC re-measurement under IFRS-9 amounts to Rs2.121 billion,” an analyst at Taurus Securities said.

Public Accounts Committee panel summons K-Electric over non-payment to SSGC
ISLAMABAD:
A subcommittee of the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Thursday summoned K-Electric officials over the issue of unauthorised supply of gas to it and non-payment of arrears to the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC).
A meeting of the subcommittee, with its convener Raja Riaz in the chair, reviewed the audit objections regarding the Petroleum Division for 2018-19.
The committee was informed by audit officials about the non-recovery of Rs 81.81 billion under Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC).
SSGC officials informed the committee that gas worth Rs10 billion was stolen in Balochistan, annually, and they stressed the need for the government and the relevant agencies to resolve the issue of gas theft in the province.
