A third Phillipsburg High School teacher faces criminal charges in an alleged tenure scheme targeting a school district employee, the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office said Friday.
Scott Silvis, 42, of Upper Nazareth Township, was arrested after the ongoing investigation revealed he provided “material support” to the two teachers previously charged, George Chilmonik and Dave Post, according to Prosecutor James Pfeiffer.
Sunday’s fatal officer-involved shooting was the first for a township in Warren County, officials said.
Hamilton Township Police Chief Scott Hughes held a press conference Tuesday after two of his 22 sworn officers shot a man Sunday, killing him.
Hughes said Anthony Williams, 57, pointed a .357 magnum caliber revolver at officers from his back porch. The chief said officers were there after Williams’s partner fled to a neighbor’s house and reported gunfire to a 911 dispatcher.

The owners of two Washington-area restaurants were cited last month for alleged violations of New Jersey’s COVID-19 mask order.
On April 17, Washington Township police issued simultaneous citations at Desiderio’s Stone Tavern on Route 31 in the township and Philbert’s Pub on Washington Avenue in Washington Borough, according to a regular news release from the department.

Phillipsburg High School’s head wrestling coach and another longtime math teacher accused of making a threat for a tenure vote have left police custody and are being placed on paid administrative leave, the district’s business administrator said.
Coach Dave Post, 36 and also a math teacher at the school, and George Chilmonik, 74, with the district since 1970, were taken into custody Monday by New Jersey State Police and a county detective at the Lopatcong Township school. The pair were housed overnight at the Warren County jail and made their first appearance Tuesday in Warren County Superior Court.
Warren Co. man faces several child porn charges after 5-month investigation

A 57-year-old White Township man is charged with several counts of possessing and distributing child pornography, the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office announced Friday morning after a five-month investigation.
George Oakes IV, of the first block of Colby Court, is charged with one count of manufacturing child porn, two counts of distributing child porn, three counts of possession of child porn (more than 1,000 images), and two counts of possession of child porn (fewer than 1,000 images), Prosecutor Jim Pfeiffer said in a news release.
Oakes was arrested Wednesday, Pfeiffer said, and freed from custody that afternoon pending further court action, records indicate.
