INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) As President Biden urges states to implement their own eviction bans, saying the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention cannot issue another moratorium, Indiana leaders are bracing for a flood of eviction filings this week that could leave thousands of families homeless.
Monday was the first business day that landlords could evict their tenants for not paying rent, and it won’t be surprising to see an increasing number of piles of furniture on sidewalks in Indianapolis.
Neighbors told News 8 that junk dealers and scavengers had already picked through most of what was thrown out in a yard late Sunday night.

Wayne Township Schools has changed its mask policy, recommending that all students, teachers and staff wear them when classes begin Wednesday regardless of vaccination status after new guidance around masking in K-12 schools was issued Tuesday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The CDC says all individuals, including those who have been fully vaccinated, should return to wearing masks indoors in areas with substantial or high rates of transmission. The recommendation extends to K-12 schools, where health experts recommend that everyone be masked, regardless of vaccination status. Children should return to full-time, in-person learning in the fall with proper prevention strategies in place, said Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the CDC, during a press call Tuesday.
These New Jersey cities are the safest
Everybody wants to live in a safe area, right? The problem is finding out where those cities are. Well, now there’s a survey out that ranks American cities on their safety, and New Jersey is well represented.
The rankings were compiled by AdvisorSmith, a business insurance website, using data from the FBI for calendar year 2019, the most recent stats available. Crimes considered in this report include violent crimes such as robbery, assault, rape, and murder, as well as property crimes including burglary, larceny, and motor vehicle theft.
They then created a proprietary formula by assigning values to the various crimes, with violent crimes being weighted more heavily.
