New Imperial partnership to explore science communication in Poland and UK
Imperial is to collaborate with four leading universities in Poland to improve science communication in the two countries.
The aim is to build better bridges between scientific researchers, the public and policymakers in order to help shape policy and societal attitudes in areas including climate change and pandemics.
The collaboration was launched at a virtual event this week, attended by leaders and academics from Imperial and its partners – the Adam Mickiewicz University, The Jagiellonian University, Medical University of Gdansk and Warsaw University of Technology.
That’s always how we’ve thought about science communication at Imperial: a matter of sharing, especially a matter of sharing ideas and sharing expertise. Dr Stephen Webster Director of Science Communications Unit

New York’s Point72 in hiring drive in Warsaw
Point72, one of the most successful US hedge funds, opened a new tech hub in Warsaw in 2020, and plans to recruit 150 people working across finance, technology and operations by the end of 2021.
Some of those hires have already been made. Others are in process: of 42 global technology jobs advertised by Point72 currently, 30 are in Warsaw; 11 are in New York or Stamford; one is in Hong Kong or Singapore.
The new roles include opportunities for everything from an “extraordinarily bright” .Net Developer to work on macro trading systems (Point72’s system is predominantly .net/C#), to a software engineering manager to build an enterprise level data platform, or an engineer to work on compliance technology.
