Los Angeles County Sheriff Holds Active Shooter Training At Castaic Lake
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) conducted active shooter training along with the LASD Tactics and Survival unit and the Los Angeles County Fire Department at Castaic Lake on Tuesday.
LASD held the active shooter training on Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Castaic Lake Recreation Area, which was closed to the public during training.
“We are basically doing everything we can as a sheriff’s department to prepare for real active shooter events,” said Deputy Brittany Fraser with the LASD. “We just want to be prepared for that to save as many lives as possible.”
Would-be junior lake lifeguards can sign up today for free tryouts happening this weekend with a chance to learn first aid, CPR and rescue skills from experienced county lifeguards.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Would-be junior lake lifeguards can sign up today for free tryouts happening this weekend with a chance to learn first aid, CPR and rescue skills from experienced county lifeguards.
This weekend is the last chance this summer to try out for the summer program, which is overseen by trained, certified lifeguard staffers who serve as mentors and lead hands-on activities introducing youth to water safety, athleticism, teamwork and a career in aquatics.
Participants ages 9-17 must pass the tryouts to register for the summer program, which will be held at Castaic Lake Recreation Area, Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park and Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area.
