A BURGLAR and shoplifter has been jailed after stealing four mountain bikes from sheds in Cheshire. Lewis Dutton went into a garden on Victoria Road, Runcorn, and entered the shed in the early hours of Monday, January 18. The 28-year-old is not believed to have taken anything from the shed, but soon afterwards he attempted to steal a mountain bike that was chained up in another garden on Victoria Road. He used a hacksaw on the chain but fled without the bike after activating a security light and waking up the occupiers. In the morning people living in the nearby St Johns Gardens and Ashley Road woke up to discover that mountain bikes had been stolen from their sheds overnight.

The court heard how the 28-year-old went into a garden on Victoria Road and entered the shed in the early hours of Monday, January 18. He is not believed to have taken anything from the shed, but soon afterwards he attempted to steal a mountain bike that was chained up in another garden on the same road. Prosecutors said he used a hacksaw on the chain but fled without the bike after activating a security light and waking up the occupiers.

Virgil van Dijk, who won the league title with Liverpool last season, was caught driving his black Mercedes-Benz G-Class above a temporary 50mph speed limit at junction 19 on the southbound carriageway, in Tabley. The 29-year-old, who lives in Hale Barns, was fined £220 and ordered to pay £90 in costs and a victim surcharge of £34 following the incident on September 8, last year. The case was heard at Warrington Magistrates’ Court last Friday, January 15, in a ‘single justice procedure’ – meaning he did not have to turn up at court.
Warrington Magistrates Court A 50-YEAR-old man was spotted walking down a main road in Widnes performing a sex act before boarding a train. Gregory Coleman, of Wilderspool Causeway in Latchford, Warrington, even carried on with the act in a police cell after being arrested under caution, Warrington Magistrates Court heard. Prosecutor Angela Blackmore, addressing magistrates on Wednesday, said a shocked woman was driving down Birchfield Road in Widnes on October 20 at 1.05pm when she spotted Coleman. She was concerned that he was heading in the direction of a school - but there is no evidence to say this was his intention.
