Police said they responded to Essex Street, just west of Rawson Street, at about 2:50 p.m. for a shooting. The woman was found lying in the street, and  was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police are not releasing the victim s name until they said family can be notified.
