A charity in the region has announced plans to create a new project that will help older people in Northumberland get back to a ‘new normal’ way of living. ‘A time to live – Covid reset and beyond’ is a 12 month campaign launched by Age UK Northumberland and funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, that will help support older individuals as the region begins to return to more normal times following the pandemic. The scheme will provide a range of advice, activities, exercises, friendship and bereavement support. “Everyone has suffered as a result of the pandemic, but our older generation have been more likely to shield for a prolonged period of time and as a result we are seeing extreme physical de-conditioning, loss of confidence, increased frailty and high levels of anxiety about returning to normal,” said Amy Whyte, Head of Charitable Services for Age UK Northumberland.
