Richard Morris Barnett, an Arkansas man who was photographed lounging in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi s office, was charged with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority; violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds; and theft of public money, property, or records, federal officials announced Friday.
If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of one year in prison, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Barnett s arrest came two days after he took part in a failed insurrection attempt Wednesday in the U.S. Capitol, when a mob of President Donald Trump supporters halted the counting of the electoral votes and ransacked the Capitol building.
