Forest Grove Police received a report of a missing person from Hawthorne House Care Facility shortly before 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Toufik “Tom” Tanous had walked away from the facility between 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team responded to the area to help in a search.

Missing 79-year-old Oregon man found dead near Gales Creek KATU Staff © Provided by KATU Portland GALES CREEK, Ore. – A missing 79-year-old man was found dead on Thursday, nearly two days after he was reported as missing from a care facility in Forest Grove. Search crews say they found Toufik “Tom” Tanous deceased in Gales Creek near highway 47, about a mile southwest of where he was last seen. The Washington County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to confirm Tanous’ cause of death. The sheriff’s office says they do not suspect foul play. Authorities say Tanous, who had Alzehimer’s, walked away from the Hawthorne House Care Facility between 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.
