Washington County deputies find missing man safe

UPDATE: The Washington County Sheriff's Office saysStephen Odell has been found safe. Original story: The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding a missing 60-year-old man. Stephen Odell was last known to be near the Interstate 5 corridor just south of the Salem Airport. His family says Odell possibly went snow camping with his dog in the Mount Hood area early Saturday morning. He has not been heard from.

Kalona Approves 2022 Fiscal Year Budget

The Kalona City Council approved the city’s 2022 fiscal year budget following a public hearing Monday night. Next year’s budget is nearly identical to the 2021 budget at just under $3.5 million. City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says most expenses will stay the same thanks to revenues that have weathered the pandemic better than anticipated, “For a community like Kalona we didn’t see a dip in our local option sales tax, we held true there with that biggest mover that we see. That’s held pretty consistently throughout this all and our projections for next fiscal year really showed some increases which might be a reflection of individuals staying closer to home and where they choose to spend their money. So we were positive for what we saw for increases there.”

Snowmobiler dies after striking tree in Village of Richfield By FOX6 News Digital Team Published  RICHFIELD, Wis. - A 32-year-old Wauwatosa man has died in a snowmobile crash in the Village of Richfield.  The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a snowmobile crash that occurred on the trail system in the area of Scenic Road and Pioneer Road around 10:35 p.m. The caller reported that the male operator of the snowmobile had struck a tree and was unconscious.  Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Richfield Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene.   The first arriving deputy on scene was able to locate the snowmobile trail crossing of Scenic Road south of Pioneer Road and began making his way down the trail on foot. 

32-year-old snowmobiler died after hitting a tree in Washington County

RICHFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) A 32-year-old Wauwatosa man died after hitting a tree while operating a snowmobile in Richfield Tuesday, Feb. 16. The Washington County Sheriff s Office said it happened at 10:35 p.m. near Scenic Road and Pioneer Road. The man was found unconscious and without a pulse. Officials say the man was determined to be dead after he was brought out from the trail system and into an ambulance.  An initial investigation on scene indicated that the snowmobiler failed to negotiate a curve on the trail at the entrance to a wooded area and struck a tree, the Washington County Sheriff s Office said.
