Facebook Share The Washington County Sheriff’s Office got an assist from West Slope neighbors Tuesday as they tracked down a man accused of assaulting a garbage collector and attempting to steal clothing from a front porch. A resident called authorities after spotting a man on their doorbell security camera trying to steal shoes and a hat from their porch, the sheriff’s office said. The man was reported to be wearing no shoes and one sock and was speaking incoherently.

Body cameras OK d for all Washington County patrol deputies December 23 2020 All Washington County Sheriff s Office patrol deputies will soon use body cameras at a cost of $1.4 million. Six months after it was first proposed, the Washington County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Dec. 15 to fund an expansion to the body-worn camera program at the Washington County Sheriff s Office. Amending its adopted 2020-21 budget, the county will spend nearly $1.4 million over the next five years to equip 210 deputies and 129 vehicles all those involved with patrol and civil law enforcement work with body-worn cameras. The money will come from the county s general fund, as well as funds from the Enhanced Sheriff s Patrol District and a recently passed public safety levy.

Two men face charges in Robbinston shooting incident ELLSWORTH On Dec. 19 at 1:48 p.m., Maine State Police from Troop J and detectives from Major Crimes Unit North responded to a shooting that occurred outside of a residence in Robbinston. According to investigators, the shooting occurred during a family fight. During the initial call, Maine State Police were assisted by U.S. Border Patrol, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Calais Police Department and the Maine Warden Service. As a result of the investigation, Joshua Styles, 34, of Robbinston, was arrested on Dec. 22 for reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon. Jaycee Styles, 25, of Robbinston, was also arrested and charged with domestic violence assault.
