MARIETTA – Two people were killed Thursday night at a fire scene near Reno where a fire truck struck two pedestrians, the Marietta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
The accident happened on County Nine Road where a truck from the Williamstown Volunteer Fire Department was at a structure fire at 1177 County Nine Road, the patrol said in a release late Thursday night.
William A. Reed, 72, and Karolyn B. Reed, 72, were struck by Williamstown Pumper/Tanker 8 as it was backing at the scene, the patrol said. Both succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased by the Washington County Coroner, the patrol said.

U.S. District Judge Christopher R. Cooper granted a motion Tuesday allowing Richard Barnett’s release from federal custody in Washington, D.C. Barnett lives in Gravette.
Barnett, 60, was among supporters of former President Donald Trump who stormed the Capitol as lawmakers assembled to certify President-elect Joe Biden’s victory over Trump. Prosecutors say Barnett was carrying a stun gun when he entered the building.
