ROCK ISLAND, Ill. Washington Jr. High School in Rock Island is closed Monday, May 17.
A post on the Rock Island - Milan School District s Facebook page said the building had heavy water damage. There was no indication as to what part of the building or additional details.
Because of this, students and staff are having a full remote day.
The announcement was made on the district s Facebook page around 6:50 a.m.

Dr. David T. Lewis, 85, of Holiday Island, Arkansas, passed away April 21, 2021. He was born September 27, 1935, in Downing, Missouri, the son of Harry R. Lewis and Emma Bohi Lewis. He grew up in Rutland, Iowa, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brother, playing along the river with his sisters, reading the Bible and poetry with his parents, and where he worked to farm the DeGroote farm. David served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a life-long learner and teacher who used his art of storytelling, quick wit, and writing to connect with others and share his knowledge and gifts. He was a wonderful loving husband and father who will be deeply missed.

NAPERVILLE, IL Parents from nine school districts will come together Sunday in Naperville to rally for schools to reopen for in-person instruction full time.
The Cross District Rally to Reopen will kick off at 11 a.m. at the corner of Webster Avenue and Douglas Street near Washington Junior High School. The rally will continue to the Riverwalk s Free Speech Pavilion, where keynote speakers will include ex-Chicago Public Schools CEO Paul G. Vallas, Illinois State Senator Darren Bailey and radio host Amy Jacobson.
