Bellevue s Overlake Medical Center apologizes for prioritizing eligible donors for COVID-19 vaccine KING 5 Staff © Provided by KING-TV Seattle Overlake Medical Center in Bellevue is apologizing for how it handled its COVID-19 vaccine distribution plan, by prioritizing eligible donors and by not adopting a broader outreach strategy. On Jan. 22, the hospital said it emailed nearly everyone on file to fill unclaimed vaccination slots on short notice.   Overlake said proactive communications were sent to those for whom we had email addresses, including all of our 3,300 employees, patients aged 65 and above, groups of retired nurses and physicians and our volunteer and donor communities.  All of those individuals were sent a communication with a separate scheduling link due to various limitations of our schedule system.”

First thing.the Governor says more vaccine is headed to Washington state and it is sorely needed even though as of Monday 1/25/21 over a half million does has already been given out with 13,500 of those in Yakima County. Second thing,,, the demand is overwhelming.  The Washington State Department of Health figures the 65 and over population to be around 1-point-1 million individuals with another 300-thousand persons over 50 living in multigenerational homes, all eligible to receive the vaccine.

The East region, including Spokane County, is not yet eligible to move into Phase 2 of reopening after Washington Gov. Jay Inslee announced a revised Roadmap to Recovery plan on Thursday.  Inslee said during a press conference that the criteria for regions in Washington to move from Phase 1 to 2 of reopening is becoming less stringent, allowing for the Puget Sound and West Regions to move into Phase 2 on Monday, Feb. 1. The counties in these regions represent about half of the state s population, Inslee said.

Washington State Department Of Health Revises Down Whitman County Coronavirus Deaths-3 Cases Confirmed Wednesday In Whitman County

The Washington State Department of Health has revised down the number of Whitman County residents who have died from coronavirus. The state agency now reports that 36 people in Whitman County have died from coronavirus since the pandemic began.  Public health officials in Olympia previously reported 38 deaths in Whitman County.  Local Whitman County Public Health officials in Colfax don’t know why the state revised the number down. Whitman County Public Health moved to using state coronavirus death numbers a couple of weeks ago.  The two agencies had different counts for the number of deaths in Whitman County. Three new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Whitman County on Wednesday.  There have been 3,127 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Whitman County since the start of the pandemic.
