Kids host lemonade fundraiser for officer who was shot in injured

A group of kids from Musket Street in Prairie Grove are setting up a lemonade stand to help support a local officer who was injured last week. Officer Tyler Franks was shot while responding to a domestic disturbance call in Prairie Grove. He is now in the Intensive Care Unit at Washington Regional Medical Center after undergoing multiple surgeries.  The lemonade fundraiser will be held on Saturday (May 15) at the corner of Musket and Sundowner and will last from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Author: 5NEWS Web Staff Updated: 4:54 PM CDT May 13, 2021 PRAIRIE GROVE, Arkansas The Prairie Grove officer who was shot and injured while responding to a domestic disturbance on May 4 underwent surgery on May 7 where surgeons had to partially amputate his left leg, according to a Prairie Grove Police Department (PGPD) May 13 update. While attempting to make entry into a bedroom, 42-year-old Nickolas Colbert fired three rounds from a shotgun and semi-automatic pistol striking Officer Tyler Franks in the upper portion of both legs.   Officer Andrew Gibson immediately applied tourniquets which have been credited to saving Officer Franks’ life.

More Washington Regional released the following statement regarding Officer Franks condition:  Washington Regional has been asked by the family of Officer Tyler Franks to provide a statement about his condition. Officer Franks is in stable condition after having vascular and orthopedic surgery and is currently in our intensive care unit. The family appreciates the overwhelming support from the law enforcement community as well as everyone else who has shown their support. The family also asks that you please keep them, Officer Franks, and the suspect’s family in your thoughts and prayers. Paramedics took Colbert to the Washington Regional Medical Center where he underwent surgery. He is reported to be in stable condition as well.

Prairie Grove officer stable after being shot in domestic disturbance call Prairie Grove officer stable after being shot in domestic disturbance call 40/29 reports that Prairie Grove Police Officer Tyler Franks is in stable condition today in the Washington Regional Medical Center ICU after surgery for gunshot wounds to his leg in an exchange of gunfire during a domestic disturbance response. Franks was shot about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday after entering a home on West Thurman Street. Nicholas Colbert reportedly fired a shotgun and handgun and hit Franks three times. Officer Andrew Gibson, who was with Franks, shot five times and hit Colbert at least four times. Gibson then took Franks from the house and applied a tourniquet to stop bleeding. Colbert also was hospitalized but has not yet been charged.
