BILL LACKEY/STAFF Fog is developing tonight in parts of the region, and is leading to visibility less than a mile, with dense fog and visibility of less than one-quarter mile also reported, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. Overnight lows will be around 20 degrees. The fog is expected to remain overnight in parts of Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, and Preble counties. The NWS urges motorists to be prepared for changing visibility, and to slow down for dense fog.

Updates return on local music students Hello Champaign County! You’ve not had a column from me for awhile! I do have an excuse…the pandemic. Every time I sat down to write something – everything changed before I hit the “send” tab! That’s my excuse, and I’m sticking to it! Meanwhile, I have nothing but great praise and good wishes for our local educators, and music educators in particular. As a former teacher, I cannot visualize what this past year has been for preparations in music departments. Bless our teachers and students for working so hard to maintain the work needed.

He was born June 23, 1950, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Margaret Schell Engel and the late George M. Engel III. George was a graduate of Wittenberg University and University of Dayton where he received his MA. He was a City of Dayton police officer and sergeant for 16 years until retiring in 1992. George and his wife Karen Wade Engel were married for 47 years. Together they raised three children after giving birth to quadruplets. Infant son, Douglas George Engel survived only 16 days.
