Three dead in separate Whitman County incidents

December 28, 2020 The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office is investigating three apparent suicides and a shooting that occurred in three separate incidents Saturday afternoon. According to a news release from Whitman County Sheriff Brett Myers, deputies responded to an Oakesdale home shortly after 1 p.m., after receiving a report of a possible shooting. They found an elderly woman lying in the front entryway of the home, suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the face. The victim told deputies she’d been shot by her husband, who then shot and killed himself. Deputies then entered the home and found the woman’s 82-year-old husband dead, with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent attempted murder suicide in Oakesdale. Deputies were called to an Oakesdale home around 1:00 Saturday afternoon.  They found an elderly woman lying in the front entryway of her home suffering from a gunshot wound.  The woman was able to tell deputies that her husband shot her and then he shot and killed himself.  Deputies found the woman’s 82-year-old husband dead inside their home from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The woman was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane where she underwent emergency surgery.  The sheriff’s office reports that she is expected to recover.  Their names were not released.

According to a news release from Sheriff Brett Myers, the Sheriff’s Office first responded to a shooting shortly after 1 p.m. in Oakesdale. Deputies found an elderly woman laying in front of her home’s entryway with injuries to her face consistent with a gunshot wound. The woman told deputies she had been shot by her husband. She believed he then shot and killed himself. Deputies entered the home and found the 82-year-old man dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Malden man fatally shoots himself Saturday, deputies say

Deputies and medical responders were dispatched to the town after a woman called and said her husband was bleeding from his head.
