Construction is finally going ahead on a new $30-million Catholic Central High School in Windsor. For many years, there have been calls for improvements in the physical spaces between schools in Windsor, and I often was asked by parents that they felt ignored and they wanted to see more meaningful improvements to the facilities, Education Minister Stephen Lecce said in a virtual news conference Thursday.
Plans to build a new school have been in the works for years, with the province giving the board the green light to move forward on construction at the start of this year.
WINDSOR, ONT. Windsorites are encouraged to grow sunflowers this year to show support to frontline healthcare workers. The “Pockets Full of Sunshine” initiative is being organized by the Shine Bright YQG and Windsor Frontline Healthcare Workers Facebook groups to inspire the region during these challenging times. “Our goal of this is really to help lift the spirits of frontline health care workers,” says organizer Edy Haddad. Haddad says 5,000 seeds of 15 different varieties are arriving this week to be distributed over the next month. “We’re trying to do our part to help lift their spirits,” Haddad. “To tell them that it’s going to be alright. That we’re here for you, we appreciate what you’re doing and we’re going to stand by you until this is done and we’re going to do our part.”
WINDSOR, ONT. Next week students in the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board return to classes virtually following Spring Break. Elementary students are advised to check their email accounts first thing on Monday morning for instructions on how to proceed that day. The day will be an opportunity for elementary teachers to reconnect with their students in the morning and provide them with activities in the afternoon. Full online learning with all students following their regular schedules will begin on Tuesday morning. Those elementary students who were learning virtually at St. Isidore prior to the break can expect to continue with their regular online learning on Monday.
