OSHKOSH - After the Experimental Aircraft Association s AirVenture was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Doreen Hillard shared photos on social media of the 40 years she s been attending and volunteering at the convention.
But it wasn t the same. Hillard, 64, missed being a part of the action and interacting with the staff and volunteers, who ve become like family over the years. So this year she s counting down the days until she gets to travel from her home in Texas to Oshkosh. The tiny, one good thing that came out of missing last year, is that I think people are so appreciative now. No one wants to miss a thing and everybody wants to help and make it good. I m really excited about it, she said.
