New Year’s Day is a federal holiday marking the first day of the calendar year. Jan. 1, 2021 falls on Friday, meaning many businesses and services will be affected.

Onondaga County is encouraging people to ring in the new year at home with their household due to stress on Syracuse hospitals, and other events, like “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve” in Times Square, will still go on but without crowds.
