Three men accused of drug dealing in Basingstoke have appeared in court. Darren Dean Bryant, of Skippetts Gardens, Viables, is charged with supplying cocaine to others on December 14. He stands accused alongside Terence David Hall, 38 of Quilter Road, Brighton Hill, and Saran Man Uam, 29 of The Moorings, Eastrop. The trio have not yet entered any pleas and will next appear at Winchester Crown Court on January 13.
A Basingstoke man has denied assaulting two people at a pub in Alton. Christopher Joseph James Murton, of Wateridge Road in Oakridge, has been charged with the assault by beating of two individuals at The Wheatsheaf Inn in Alton on August 7.
A man who arrived at Sutton Scotney Services with lubricant, sex toys and restraints to attempt the rape of an eight-year-old has been jailed for eight years. Lance Baynes, formerly of Cedar Close in Walsall, was arrested on August 21 after he travelled 120 miles with the intent of abusing the girl. He was due to meet with another man to carry out the offence, but this was part of a police sting, and was arrested by officers after arriving.
A subsequent appearance at Winchester Crown Court on November 23 revealed that he was communicating sexually with a 13-year-old girl, as well as administrating an account to exchange explicit images of children with others.
Lucy-Anne Rushton murder detective pleads not guilty to forging witness statement A DETECTIVE has pleaded not guilty to forging a witness statement during an investigation into the murder of Lucy Anne Rushton. Detective Constable Robert Ferrow is accused of completing and signing the statement as part of the murder probe in June 2019. The police officer denied one count of forgery at Basingstoke Magistrates Court today, the BBC reports. The case is set to be heard at Winchester Crown Court on January 20. The investigation was brought by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) . As previously reported by The Advertiser, DC Ferrow has been charged with making a false instrument with intent for it to be accepted as genuine, under the Forgery and Counterfeiting Act 1981.
