Apr 23, 2021 It’s no doubt most of us have old and unused prescription medication stored somewhere in our homes. While the medication may have been prescribed properly to assist us with a medical condition at one time, they do have their own dangers if they are used for the wrong reasons. According to a 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.7 million people misused prescription pain relievers, 4.9 million misused prescription stimulants and 5.9 million misused prescription tranquilizers or sedatives that year. A majority of those misused drugs were obtained from family and friends, sometimes without their knowledge. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, along with local and state law enforcement, have been working for years to address such issues which often lead to drug addiction.

Staff writer REMEMBERING AN OFFICER — Students of Mr. Cain Noble’s Industrial Arts class at Harrison Central High School constructed a shadow box to display Steubenville Police Department K9 Bono’s vest and presented it to his handler, Steubenville Police Sgt. Rob Cook, on Wednesday. Bono died unexpectedly in November. Andrew Grimm CADIZ The Police K9 Association’s search for someone to make a shadow box to remember K-9 Bono ended in a place one may not have expected Harrison Central High School. Bono, who was the Steubenville Police Department’s beloved K-9 officer, died unexpectedly in November. The Police K9 Association, after some searching, found just the group to make a custom-made shadow box, which holds Bono’s vest along with an engraving of the police badge, in Cain Noble’s industrial arts class.

After joining the Bridgeport Police Department earlier this week, Miller now holds a total of seven jobs, three of which are roles in local law enforcement. He is also a certified fitness trainer, certified nutritionist, college student and delivers pizzas part-time. Miller began his career in law enforcement in 2017. In 2019, at the age of 23 he became the youngest person to become a police chief in the United States. He said becoming the chief has allowed him the flexibility to do more good for the community.
