“I’m glad that they did and I’m excited to get going,” Lokombo said.
Roughriders general manager Jeremy O’Day said the team feels Lokombo can come in and be an impact player.
“(He could) have a long career here in the CFL. Obviously there’s projections that we’re doing here but we feel like he’s a special talent,” O’Day said.
The 5’11”, 190-pound defensive back played in 30 games for the Huskies, recording 115 tackles, 10 interceptions and three sacks.
Lokombo, who is from Abbotsford, B.C., was named the U Sports defensive player of the year in 2019.
“These past four years have been an eye-opener for the culture change and how different the culture from B.C. to the culture in Saskatchewan. The love of the game is huge (in Saskatchewan),” Lokombo said. “I’m excited to just be able to stay (in Saskatchewan) and not be too far away from my alma mater.”

TORONTO With the first overall pick in the 2021 CFL Draft, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats got creative and took the last player entered into the prospect pool.
Tight end Jake Burt, who was born in Regina, Sask. and raised in Boston, MA, will bring a big, talented frame to Tiger Town. At six-foot-five and 230 pounds, Burt has emphasized his versatility in pre-draft calls with media, saying that he’s capable of wearing a lot of different hats on the field.
Burt is the ninth-ever player taken in the CFL Draft out of Boston College and the first-ever top pick and first-rounder from the school.

Six months ahead of the next COP26 Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, Scotland, 26 Canadians were named Canadian Climate Champions in a livestreamed event Tuesday morning.
Three Calgarians were among those including David Suzuki honoured by federal Infrastructure and Communities Minister Catherine McKenna for their efforts in fighting climate change and moving Canada toward net-zero emissions.

In his third year as the starting QB, Kyler Murray is poised and ready to take his game to the next level in his third year. To be named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in his rookie year and then be named to the Pro Bowl in his second year is a tribute to Kyler’s prodigious talent as a passer and a runner.

Today is May 1, which most of the world celebrates as Labour Day, and though the North American labour day is still on the other side of summer, it might be wise to use this as a sort of target as we move into an unwanted new phase of the pandemic.
