While Saskatchewan s far north east health zone was hit hard with new COVID-19 cases, reporting 37 new cases of the disease, only two new COVID-19 cases were reported in far north east 2, the health zone that includes Creighton, Denare Beach and other Saskatchewan communities. The zone is now sitting at 54 active cases of COVID-19 - more exact information about case locations has not been provided by provincial health officials. Throughout the rest of northern Manitoba, the region with the most new COVID-19 cases was the Thompson/Mystery Lake district - 14 new cases were reported in the district Thursday. One other region, the hard-hit Island Lake district, reported a high number of new cases, reporting eight new cases of COVID-19. No other district reported more than three new cases in northern Manitoba.

A warning to government appointees that they will be terminated if they travel for leisure purposes outside permitted areas is drawing a mixture of praise and criticism.
Premier Brian Pallister issued the warning in a statement late Monday while revealing that the board chairman of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, Wayne McWhirter, would be stepping down from his role.

Fewer Manitobans are testing positive for COVID-19 and cases in the Flin Flon district continue to drop, but bad COVID-19 news has come from Saskatchewan.
The district that saw the most new cases was the Thompson/Mystery Lake district, where 35 new cases were reported overnight. Accounting for recoveries, the district has jumped from 89 active cases Tuesday to 106 active cases Wednesday. Since the pandemic began, 594 people in the Thompson district have tested positive. The north remains Manitoba s COVID-19 hotspot, due in large part to persisting outbreaks in the Island Lake and Shamattawa/York Factory/Tataskweyak/Split Lake district. The Island Lake district now has 803 cases of COVID-19 according to provincial data, while the Shamattawa district is sitting at 367 active cases once again. Cases are not confined to the northeast portion of the region, however. Provincial numbers show 71 cases remain active in The Pas/OCN/Kelsey district.
