WINNIPEG Two of Manitoba s COVID-19 outbreaks that left more than 80 care home residents dead, have been declared over. Revera announced the outbreaks at the Maples Personal Care Home and Parkview Place Personal Care Home, both of which are in Winnipeg, were over on Tuesday afternoon. We can assure you that we are not letting our guard down now that this outbreak is over. We will maintain our vigilance, monitoring residents and screening staff and visitors for symptoms. Staff will continue to wear an appropriate mask and eye protection at all times, the care home company said in a statement.
WINNIPEG A Winnipeg woman said a 911 operator talked her through administering naloxone to her son who overdosed in his bedroom. Heather Witherden said she went to check on her 25-year-old son on Sunday evening and found him unresponsive. When I actually touched him, he felt cool and I got scared, she said, adding he woke up shortly after. I literally just came back like 10 minutes later, and that s when I found him again completely kind of like slumped over. On his desk, along with other drug paraphernalia, was a kit containing naloxone – the drug that temporarily counters the effects of opioids.

It would not be wrong to describe the global COVID-19 pandemic as a war.
Death, destruction of the social and economic fabric of society, along with the fear and dread that comes with a mortal threat. Those who have been through actual military conflict may beg to differ, but for most of the rest of us, this is war.
It begs an important question: why aren t we using a wartime mindset to guide our response?
There has been an undeniable lack of urgency in many aspects that seems out of step with the scope and nature of the threat posed by COVID-19.
For the first time in months, Manitoba has reported less than 100 new cases of COVID-19 in a day. The province reported 90 net new cases, including nine northern cases and a new case in the Flin Flon health district.
