At just 22 years of age, Isobel Marshall has been named The 2021 Young Australian of the Year for her work in addressing period poverty.
The idea to create a social enterprise first came to Isobel and her classmate, Eloise Hall, when they were in their final year of high school.
After attending a leadership conference at Bond University, they were inspired to forge ahead with ‘TABOO’, a business dedicated to bridging women’s lack of access to sanitary products in developing countries.
“About 30 percent of girls in developing countries drop out of school as soon as they get their period,” Isobel told

A sexual assault survivor who campaigned for the right to speak about her traumatic experience has been named the 2021 Australian of the Year.
Hobart woman Grace Tame, 26, was groomed and raped by her 58-year-old maths teacher Nicolaas Bester when she was in Year 10 at the exclusive all-girl St Michael s Collegiate School in Hobart.
Bester served 18 months in jail after pleading guilty to maintaining a relationship with a young person and possession of child exploitation material.
Grace Tame has been named Australian of the Year for 2021.(Sydney Morning Herald)
