The D-Day for making the RWY 09R/27l or the south runway CAT III B-compliant is December 31. However, it is unclear whether authorities would be following the plan. Till Wednesday night, there was no update on whether the runway would become CAT III B-compliant, which would potentially reduce fog-related delays and flight cancellations at the airport.

Flights to remain suspended from UK Flights to remain suspended from UK NEW DELHI, Dec 29: India is likely to extend the suspension of passenger flights to and from the United Kingdom to check the spread of the new strain of Coronavirus, Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said today. The Ministry had last week suspended all flights between the two countries from December 23 to December 31 over the mutated variant of the virus which is more contagious. “I foresee a slight extension of temporary suspension of India-UK flights,” the Minister told a press conference here today. “In a day or two, we will find out if any additional steps need to be taken, or when we can start easing the current temporary suspension,” he said.
