HANOI, April 24 (Vietnam News/ANN): Vietnam will greatly reduce coal-based power generation and rapidly increase the share of renewables in the total primary energy supply to 20 per cent by 2030 and 30 per cent by 2045, said Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc while attending a session within the framework of the virtual Leaders Summit on Climate.
President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari, President of Poland Andrzej Duda and Spanish President Pedro Sánchez were among speakers of the session.
The session, which was chaired by US President Joe Biden, highlighted the broad economic benefits of climate action, with a strong focus on job creation.

The 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations is holding a special summit to discuss the ongoing situation in Myanmar, and is expected to include the general who led the February coup ousting the elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi. Opponents of the junta are furious that ASEAN is welcoming its chief, Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing, to its meeting in the Indonesian capital Jakarta, arguing that because he seized power by force, he is not Myanmar s legitimate leader.

JAKARTA: A special Asean Leaders Meeting on the crisis in Myanmar, chaired by Brunei s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah (pix), was held at the Asean Secretariat here, today.
Among those present in the meeting, which started at 1.40pm, were Malaysian Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
Also present was Myanmar junta chief Min Aung Hlaing.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi pointed out that only the leaders of Thailand, Laos and the Philippines were not present.
