Vietnam expects sharp rise in exports to US

Lychee being canned for export to the US. - VNA/VNS HANOI (Vietnam News/ANN): Exports for the year as of March 15 were worth US$62.01 billion, a year-on-year increase of 22.7 per cent, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs. Exports to the US in the first two months of the year accounted for $13.83 billion or 28.4 per cent of total exports. In recent years the US has become Vietnam s biggest market. Last year, for instance, at $76.4 billion it accounted for 27 per cent of the latter’s total exports. Thân Đức Viet, general director of Garment 10 Joint Stock Company, said there were several factors behind Vietnam’s rapid growth in exports including to the US.

The trial panel said the MoIT made a number of decisions against the law, introduced and chose incapable units to carry out section C of the engineering, procurement and construction contract No.01, which was one of the main factors leading to the consequences of the case, including lost capitals and indefinitely delayed progress in the expansion of the major steel factory.

Dependence of Vietnam exports on FDI sector concerns experts

The local export turnover is estimated at US$77.34 billion, an increase of 22 per cent. VNA/VNS HANOI (Vietnam News/ANN): Vietnam has enjoyed high export growth but experts are concerned that the main contributor is foreign direct investment (FDI). In the first quarter of the year, the country saw an estimated import and export value of US$152.65 billion, up 24.1 per cent over the same period last year. Of which, export turnover was estimated at $77.34 billion, an increase of 22 per cent from Q1 of 2020. Of the total export turnover, the domestic sector only contributed $18.3 billion, an increase of 4.9 per cent and accounting for 23.7 per cent, while the rest was from the FDI sector with $59.04 billion, up 28.5 per cent and accounting for 76.3 per cent.

Vietnam s wood exports expected to hit a new record

The export turnover of wood and wood products has seen an average increase of 15.4 per cent per year in the 2017-2020 period, or US$1.35 billion, even greater than the total turnover of many items. The export turnover of wood and wood products reached approximately $3.7 billion in the first quarter of this year, up 41.5 per cent, nearly double the growth rate of the total export turnover of the country at 22 per cent.
