VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN): Health authorities are being advised to improve information systems to increase opportunities for people to access real health information.
The topic was addressed at a digital health convergence meeting co-chaired by the WHO Representative to Laos, Dr Mark Jacobs, and Director General of the Department of Planning and International Cooperation, Ministry of Health, Dr Founkham Rattanavong.
Also present were senior ministry officials and invited guests.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Health Associate Prof. Dr Phouthone Muongpak said “We have seen many benefits from investing in health information systems over the years, especially during the Covid-19 epidemic when we now have access to information from multiple parties to make informed decisions.”

VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN): The authorities have launched new projects to accelerate the adoption of sustainable practices across the industry sector in Laos.
The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is supporting the ‘Laos Green Industry Policy’ project to develop this policy and enable work to be carried out in the field of industrial energy efficiency by government officials and the private sector.
In parallel, the Green Climate Fund has provided a readiness grant for ‘Market Preparation for Industrial Energy Efficiency in Laos’, an 18-month programme with GGGI as the delivery partner.
Under the project, policy gaps for a greener and more efficient energy industrial sector will be addressed, an action plan for private investments in the industrial energy sector will be developed, sectoral expertise will be improved, and stakeholders including the private sector will be engaged and effectively coordinated.
VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN): In a bid to improve logistics infrastructure and help promote cross-border trade in Laos, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) will support Sitthi Logistics Lao Co., Ltd. (Sitthi Logistics) to develop an integrated logistics facility in Vientiane.
An agreement on advisory support to the Vientiane Logistics Park (VLP) between Sitthi Logistics and IFC was signed in Vientiane on Monday (March 15)).
The agreement was signed by the CEO of Sitthi Logistics, Chanthone Sitthixay, and Head of Office of the IFC in Laos, Phongsavanh Phomkong.
The first-ever integrated logistics facility in Laos, which will include the expanded Thanaleng Dry Port (TDP) and the greenfield VLP, signals a major shift from sea trade to road and rail for landlocked Laos.
