Ferris was arrested in Rapid City on April 15 and is being held at the Pennington County Jail.
He is serving a five year sentence with one year suspended for possession of a controlled substance, a two year sentence for eluding, and a five year sentence for unauthorized ingestion of a controlled substances. All of those convictions are from Pennington County.
Leaving a non-secure correctional facility without authorization constitutes second-degree escape, a Class 5 felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
