Air New Zealand to launch half-price airfare club to entice spontaneous travel

The year-long trial will be open to 1000 people, who can apply from Wednesday May 12. To be eligible, you will need to be registered with Grabaseat, be an Airpoints member and have travelled on the airline in the past 12 months. Those who meet the criteria will be emailed today asking if they would like to register interest. Air New Zealand s chief customer and sales officer, Leanne Geraghty, expects the scheme to be hugely popular. “Our customer research is telling us there is growing demand for spontaneous travel coming from Kiwis. “Typically closer to travel, because of the dynamics of demand and supply, prices are sometimes a little bit higher – which might dampen the ability for some of that spontaneous travel. So we have been working to come up with a concept that would help us meet that market.”

Press Release – Air New Zealand Air New Zealand’s first flight to South Australia in 400 days has taken off from Auckland. Flight NZ191 departed Auckland at 8.20am this morning bound for Adelaide. The airline last flew the route on 30 March 2020 before COVID-19 restrictions closed the popular route. Renowned for its world-famous wine regions right on the city’s doorstep, Adelaide is the latest Australian city to open up to quarantine-free travel under the trans-Tasman bubble. Air New Zealand Chief Customer and Sales Officer Leanne Geraghty says the three times weekly Auckland-Adelaide service gives customers yet more choice when it comes to travel across the Tasman.

Air New Zealand says domestic business travel back to 90% of pre-pandemic levels

By Reuters Staff 2 Min Read March 30 (Reuters) - Air New Zealand Ltd on Tuesday reported domestic business travel has returned to 90% of pre-pandemic levels, bucking a downward trend in many other countries with more severe COVID-19 outbreaks. Chief Customer and Sales Officer Leanne Geraghty said the airline was “blown away” by the new data, noting it had initially hoped to return to 70% of pre-pandemic levels in 2022. “To recover to near normal levels this quickly really reinforces the strength of our domestic network and the desire of Kiwis to reconnect in person,” she said in a statement. The rebound is striking, given leading industry groups expect business travel globally to take years to recover after companies banned or severely restricted movements in an effort to protect staff and save on costs, turning instead to video-conferencing.
