Petplan nominates Blue Cross Suffolk worker

Despite her sacrifice, Ms Salmon said she was surprised to have been nominated. The modest worker said she felt everyone at Blue Cross centre stepped up to take care of the animals during the Covid crisis over the past year. “There are many people just getting on with all these sorts of things because they see the need to do so, so this nomination I feel is on behalf of everyone who is ‘doing their bit’ for the wellbeing for animals. We have taken on animals with more behavioural problems [lately] and with social distancing, we need to be able to give them the attention they need.

News | Supporting Ned and Jack | The Donkey Sanctuary

Supporting Ned and Jack 16 April 2021 When our Ireland Team received a request from a donkey owner desperate for help, we responded with advice and support. The two stallions, Ned and Jack, had belonged to the owner s late father and had roamed dairy farmland with cattle for over ten years. The donkeys were unused to being handled, and when anyone tried to trim their hooves, it was a stressful experience. In recent times, due to fencing at the farm deteriorating, the donkeys had repeatedly escaped onto roads and nearby properties, causing damage. As a last resort to prevent the donkeys from escaping, the owner confined the animals to a boat shed as he was afraid to let them out.

Charity backs bill amendment to protect livestock from hunts | League Against Cruel Sports

Mr Finnie’s amendment proposes that hounds used for fox hunting are no longer exempt from legislation as they are currently under the Dogs (Protection of Livestock) Act 1953. The League has released video footage of Scottish hunts regularly causing panic among flocks of sheep at a time when the public is being warned of the dangers of sheep worrying.
