Louisiana added 6,700 jobs in June, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and the state has gained 68,800 jobs since June 2020.
June s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is 6.9%, down from May s 7.2% and down significantly from 9.4% in June 2020.
“There are thousands of opportunities out there for people looking for work, and we know businesses are hiring,” said Louisiana Workforce Commission Sec. Ava Cates. “We’ve made a lot of progress in getting Louisianians back to work, and we’re not about to slow down our efforts.”
The Alexandria Metropolitan Statistical Area had around 59,800 jobs in June, which was unchanged from May. The area has added around 1,700 jobs since June 2020.
