Just 20 members have been expelled since the first Congress met in 1789 15 senators and five representatives.
No Republican has ever been expelled from either chamber. All five of those removed from the House were members of the Democratic Party.
In 1861, three Democrats were expelled for supporting the Confederate rebellion against the U.S. government. This was the first time any member of the House had suffered the ultimate sanction available to the chamber.

Not enough good things can be said about the state of Walker Valley football. Coach Drew Akins has not only resurrected the program, but he has also transformed the Mustangs into a legitimate contender. In 2020, the Mustangs scored 39+ points in six of their eight wins. Plus, they proved they can win low-scoring defensive battles, evident by their playoff upset over #2 Powell.
The Tullahoma chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) met at Tullahoma High School to present a flag that was donated by State Sen. Janice Bowling and State Rep. Rush Bricken in celebration of Tennesseeâs 225th anniversary of becoming a state.

Impeachment in American History
Twenty-one “civil officers of the United States” have been impeached by the House of Representatives over the course of American history. Fifteen of the impeached officials have been federal judges, one has been a senator, another a cabinet secretary, and three have been presidents (Trump twice, of course). The Senate has taken up each of these impeachments, eventually, but has not always completed the process with a decision on guilt or acquittal. Only three federal judges have been impeached by the House, found guilty by the Senate, removed and disqualified from holding federal office in the future. Five more, again all federal judges, have been impeached, convicted, removed from office but not disqualified from holding federal office in the future – one of those, Alcee Hastings, was subsequently elected to Congress.
