Williamsville South ninth grader wins grand prize in C-SPAN documentary contest

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (WKBW) â A ninth grader from Williamsville South was a big winner in a documentary contest conducted by C-SPAN!
Theo Poulin won the grand prize of $5,000 in the 2021 C-SPAN StudentCam Competition for his documentary âTrust Fall.â
Theo s documentary was one of over 2,300 films submitted during this year s competition where the theme was, âExplore the issues you want the president and new Congress to address in 2021.â Trust Fall, will air nationally on C-SPAN on April 21st.

For the past 17 years, C-Span has run a competition that invites students to produce a short documentary. This year the winner was a student from Williamsville.

With Florida beckoning, Canadian snowbirds chopper off to Buffalo to cross the border
With the U.S.-Canada border closure extending through fall into winter, Canadian snowbirds have had to consider alternate transportation to reach Florida s warmth, particularly if they were committed to bringing their own vehicles.
Great Lakes Helicopters has overcome this hurdle for snowbirds, flying small groups of passengers â from three departure points â and shipping their vehicles simultaneously on commercial transport to meet them across the border. It s not illegal, either, as the border is closed only to vehicles. And, for around $2,000 Canadian, this process is far cheaper than a $600 flight from Tor
