th is National Drug Take Back Day, and community residents are encouraged to get rid of your unused, or outdated medicines, by bringing them to the Broome County Health Department located at 225 Front Street in Binghamton from 10am to 2pm.

Fugitive breaks into home, attacks 71-year-old man in Binghamton area, troopers say

Barker, N.Y. A fugitive broke into a home and attacked a 71-year-old man Saturday in the Binghamton area, troopers said.
The attacker then stole a car at knifepoint, troopers said, and led officers on a high-speed chase on Interstate 81.
The chase ended when Matthew R. Bonser, 29, crashed the stolen car into another vehicle, said the New York State Police. Bonser, of Nanticoke, Pennsylvania who was wanted in Pennsylvania at the time of his arrest was charged with assault.
The incident started in Barker, a town about 15 miles north of Binghamton.
Man Sought After Ramming Vehicle at High-Speed in Johnson City
Johnson City police are trying to find a Chenango Bridge man who they say smashed a vehicle into another during a dispute with a woman.
Authorities said the suspect in Monday s incident is 28-year-old Clifford Harris. Detectives released a photo of Harris on Wednesday as they requested help from the public in locating him.
Investigators said police were called around 1 a.m. Monday for a reported domestic dispute involving Harris and a 21-year-old woman. The incident was occurring on Main Street near the Binghamton city line.

Deposit, NY Suffers Devastating Fire Involving Multiple Homes
Our area communities have been hit with some unusually large fires recently. All hands have chipped in to help. For example, the recent major fire at the Holiday Lanes bowling center in Oneonta brought more than 20 companies to the scene in mutual aid to battle that blaze.
Last week, the small village of Deposit, NY experienced what has been described as one of the largest fires in the villages recent history. To make matters even worse, the fire was in a residential neighborhood.

According to the Facebook page of the Deposit Fire Department, fire fighters responded to the blaze shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Friday April 9. By the time fire companies were done battling the spreading fire, the flames had involved four separate properties, four houses, two garages as well as three vehicles. One of the major contributors to the quick spread of the fire and spreading so far was due to buil
