February 14, 2021 Share Agitation which started with the farmer protest in Punjab and Haryana shifted to Delhi borders last year around November 26, 2020. It spread like a fire in the jungle. Delhi border entry points saw heavy crowds gathering together for protest. Singhu Border (not Shambhu), Ghazipur Border, Chilla Border were main sites where farmers from north India alighted and started a very strong protest against the three farm laws passed by the Central Government in the Parliament. They claimed that this is a half victory, and now the state government should also waive off the cess, being collected at the wholesale market for any trade. Bhimji Bhanushali, secretary of the Grain, Rice & Oilseeds, Merchants’ Association (GROMA) said that the Supreme Court order has come as a big relief for farmers as well as traders. “The farm laws are meant to end of the APMCs across the country,” said Bhanushali. He added that the laws are against the livelihood of lakhs of traders and farmers.
