Hours after a no-confidence motion against the BJP-led Haryana government was defeated, ruling party MLAs have begun to face farmers fury. A protest broke out today outside one such legislator s residence while an independent, too, bore the brunt. Yesterday, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of farmers organisations that has over the past few months spearheaded the protest against three contentious farm laws, called for the social boycott of those Assembly members who voted in favour of the state government.

The crowd of farmers is thinning around Delhi borders at Ghazipur and Singhu as the protest against the Centre s new farm laws entered its 83rd day with no breakthrough in sight. Many of the farmers are on their way back to the villages. From the thousands camping at the protest site barely a month ago, only half the number remain.

The Indian government has asked microblogging platform Twitter to remove over a thousand more accounts for allegedly spreading misinformation and provocative content in connection with the farmers protest. It has said that the 1,178 listed handles have Pakistani and Khalistani users, official sources have said. The social media site is yet to completely comply with the order, they said. The company has, however, said it was respecting local laws even while protecting its foundational principle of free expression .
