Farmers Protest: Ahead of Jan 4 talks with Centre, unions call for Tractor Kisan Parade on Republic Day Tractor Kisan Parade will be held on Republic Day (January 26) in Delhi, farmer unions announced on Saturday.
New Delhi: Farmers unions on Saturday called for a tractor parade towards Delhi on January 26 against the new farm laws, ahead of the scheduled talks with Centre on January 4.
Union had on Friday said that if the talks with the government on January 4 fail then they will intensify the protest. We were peaceful, are peaceful and will be peaceful, but will stay at Delhi borders until new farm laws are repealed, unions said.

Ghaziabad, January 2
A 75-year-old farmer protesting against the Centre’s new agri laws allegedly hanged himself at the Uttar Pradesh-Delhi border in Ghazipur on Saturday morning.
Sardar Kashmir Singh, a native of Bilaspur in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district, hanged himself in a mobile toilet using a rope, police said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police of Indirapuram Anshu Jain told PTI that a suicide note written in Gurumukhi was found on him.
Singh wrote in the suicide note that the government must repeal these farm laws as these are against the interests of farmers, according to a leader of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU).

NGO installs bio-toilets at Singhu border for women protesting against farm laws
More bio-toilets are coming up at the women s shelter near the main stage at Singhu border, according to the NGO.

NEW DELHI:With more women joining the farmers protest at the Singhu border here over the last few days, an NGO is installing bio-toilets made using recycled material to ensure that they don t have to worry about the lack of basic amenities.
