As vaccine-booking issues started fading away, the Eastern Ontario Health Unit reported nine new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday afternoon.
The health unit’s afternoon update added two cases to the ongoing tally in Cornwall, four in the northern portion of Akwesasne, two in South Dundas, and one in North Dundas. The cumulative total of cases within the EOHU sits at 2,997. Tuesday’s increase marks the smallest one-day increase in caseload within the EOHU since Feb. 26.

There have been 318,106 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across Ontario, an increase of 1,747 (or 0.6 per cent) from the previous day. Public Health Ontario says Sunday’s count was higher due to data catch-up. There are 298,570 people recovered from the virus while 7,153 people have died. The number of Ontario people tested is 11,755,109 of which 18,494 have pending results.
Canada’s coronavirus case total is 909,157. The country has 22,463 deaths from the virus – one in the Yukon, one in Nunavut, 1,397 in British Columbia, 1,946 in Alberta, 407 in Saskatchewan, 917 in Manitoba, 7,153 in Ontario, 10,540 in Quebec, 30 in New Brunswick, six in Newfoundland & Labrador and 65 in Nova Scotia.

CORNWALL, Ontario – A petition from the Riverdale Safety Association has been sent to Cornwall City Council asking that raises specific issues they feel need to be addressed.
The petition states that both speed and volume of traffic on Riverdale Ave. has become a problem.
“With recent and ongoing development in the north end of Riverdale, there has been a significant increase of traffic volume and speeds,” the petition reads. “Moreover, the constant truck traffic servicing the new Parkwood estates subdivision is a clear contravention of posted vehicle restrictions. These large trucks and flatbeds not only add to the congestion at the intersection of Riverdale Ave. and Grant Ave., but also generate enough vibrations to shake the house foundations on Grant, Riverdale, and adjoining side
