The state superintendent candidate forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters and the Wisconsin Public Education Network (WPEN) was not a dull affair.
Jill Underly had technical difficulties that served to illustrate one of her campaign priorities. As a candidate she has emphasized improving rural broadband access. During the March 11 forum, her internet connection was so horrible (she lives on a farm in rural southwestern Wisconsin) she had to forgo video to conserve bandwidth.

Wisconsin Republicans on Monday introduced legislation which would force the state s incarcerated prison population to pay restitution with any money they might receive from President Joe Biden s $1.9 trillion stimulus relief package.
State Representative Joe Sanfelippo, one of the Republicans who introduced the legislation, said the proposed bill is part of a wider move to curb wasteful spending included in the relief package. The GOP lawmaker issued a statement to the Associated Press Monday deriding Biden s irresponsible stimulus package which sends stimulus checks to imprisoned murderers, rapists, and child molesters. Wisconsin GOP state senator Julian Bradley, who has promoted several defend police campaigns alongside Sanfelippo and co-sponsored the restitution bill, described it as a common sense piece of legislation.

MADISON, Wis. State houses around the country are rushing to introduce new voting laws, targeting issues like absentee voting, drop boxes, and more. Despite an election filled with fraud allegations that found zero footing in any court of law, Wisconsin Republicans are no exception.
“Here in Wisconsin, and in states like Arizona, Georgia, a lot of other states–we’re seeing an effort to go in the other direction to make it harder to vote,” said Professor David Canon in the University of Madison’s political science department.
